Reflections of an ordinary person
by Diane Robinson

My life has been ordinary
I'm the mother of 4
And inspite of it all
I am searching for more

The children are grown now
Moved out on their own
My mother, a darling
Has moved to a home.

I have a few years left
Maybe 10 or 11
And I don't want to spend it
Waiting for heaven.

It is really too bad
In my church today
We spend so much time
Maligning the gay.

Many thanks to A S T E
Who were all so gracious
In  welcoming me.

First on the agenda
Was a Blessing Seed
This sure beats the hell
Out of Adam and Eve.

There was singing and praying
and a labyrinth too.
What a lovely experience
Enjoyed by all, not just a few.

We went off to hear Sallie
All her language is new.
I've got to start reading
And get out of my pew.

Thee were new things to me
Like Eschatology and panentheism
This is all very humbling
I can't even spell them.

Then Diarmuid we heard
I've heard him before.
And for we Roman Catholics
He goes right to the core.

The message I heard
Was good for my soul.
When I put it to practice
There will be less on the dole.

The parables and metaphors
At the end of the day
We all need to rehear
To show us the way.

The world and the universe
Is the Body of God
This gives whole new meaning
To the value of cod.

I'll borrow a quote
From a friend
Now is the time
To colour out the line.

Ask and imagine
Think of the slug and the fox
Let's all give a stretch
And think out of the box.

To the ministers here
Let me give you your due
Your congregations are lucky
To have the likes of you.

Justice and sustainibility
These are large orders
so we all must work
to eliminate borders.

When all's said and done
It is more than a fable
We must all get together
and come to the table.
